In this category, we aim to be more detailed about retrofits, upgrades, and other applications we have accomplished, including those that satisfy the requirements of our UL508a certification.  For more, we provide a vast portfolio of projects, including; safety panel applications, temperature control systems, A-B PLC control systems, variable speed drives, process control systems, and Siemens PLC control systems.

250kW Rubber Extruder Drive Control System

We delivered two 250kW extruder drive systems, featuring highly-specialised electrical control panel equipment within a Rittal VX bayed control panel with Rittal Blue-E cooling units, alongside; 

• a Control Techniques Unidrive M700 250kW variable speed drive, 
• a Woehner busbar system. 

180kW Plastic Extruder Control System

Axis Controls have the expertise to design and build extruder control systems for applications of all shapes and sizes.  This panel consisted of;

• a Rittal VX control enclosure,
• a Woehner busbar system,
• a range of Siemens control gear,
• a 180kW Parker 690P variable speed drive.

Control Techniques Unidrive M700 Closed-Loop Extruder System

Axis Controls have over 10 years of experience with the manufacture of electrical control panels for extruder applications; positioning ourselves as the go-to company for many plastics, rubber and polymer manufacturers and machine builders alike. 

This system comprised of a; 

• 250kW Control Techniques variable speed drive, with encoder feedback, 
• Schneider control gear, 
• Rittal Blue e+ cooling unit, 
• A Wonher busbar system.

Control Techniques M700 VSD Extruder Application 

Our most recent build was a multi-bay electrical extrusion control panel that consisted of a Siemens Simatic PLC (Programmable Logic Controller), alongside; 

• Wohner busbar system, 
• Siemens PROFIsafe, 
• ABB isolators, 
• A Schneider Eurotherm temperature controllers
• Siemens Simatic PLC system.

Sprint Electric DC Drive Extruder System

Axis Controls have recently been commissioned to manufacture an electrical control panel as a retrofit solution to an existing extrusion machine.  The operator control panel was designed to be mounted to the machine and features a digital display for both the extruder barrel speed and DC motor current.  This control panel comprises of; 

• Sprint Electric PLX40 DC Drive,
• Wohner busbar system,
• Pilz safety. 

Compact, and Powerful Electrical Control Panel 

Axis Controls have the capabilities and expertise to manufacture control panels of all shapes, and sizes. This small, yet powerful panel packed an industry-leading Siemens SIMATIC S7 PLC, alongside;

• An Omron Power Supply, 
• Inside a Schneider UL listed enclosure. 

ABB 2.2kW Extruder Control Panel 

Axis Controls have the skills and capabilities to deliver fully-bespoke control solutions.  This solution for an OEM Machine Builder consisted of a wall-mounted alongside a machine-mounted control panel, comprising; 

• A Phoenix Contact Power Supply Unit (PSU),
• ABB 2.2kW Variable Speed Drive (VSD),
• Pilz Safety, 
• A Schneider UL approved enclosure. 

Parker 7.5kW Extruder Control Panel 

In 2018, Axis Controls was commissioned by an OEM Machine Builder to manufacture an electrical control panel to be mounted to an extrusion machine.  This control panel comprised of; 

• A Parker 7.5kW AC690P Inverter, 
• Pilz Safety, 
• Phoenix Contact Relays, 
• Siemens Control-Gear and Circuit Breakers, 
• A Phoenix Contact Power Supply.

Parker 15kW Machine-Mounted Control Panel 

Axis Controls are often asked to design and manufacture control panels and automation solutions that are machine-mountable.  This electrical control panel was designed to be bolted onto an extrusion machine by our OEM Machine Builder customer.  This contains; 

• A Parker AC690P 15kW Variable Speed Drive, 
• A Rittal UL approved cabinet, 
• Pilz Safety, 
• Phoenix Contact Relays, 
• A Phoenix Contact PSU.
